(#93) CARDUCCI & HERMAN LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTS:
|
Humanity is a work in progress. A race of artists, we change things for no reason but to change them. We change our faces and bodies just for fun, and use these complicated modifications as a form of language, to tell other people who we are and what to expect of us. No sooner do we change things one way than we immediately set out to change them again. Not content with God's green earth in its original packaging, we personalize the face of Nature and the body of the Earth itself. We want to leave our mark. The more changes you make the more evidence you have that you actually exist. So, we leave our stamp on everything, in hopes that something will survive us, and say, "I was here. I was real." Poor kids "tag," rich grownups hire landscape architects. |
