Sometimes I get itchy. I want to go someplace, anyplace but here. I don't know what I want, but I do know what I don't want. I fuss around and get dissatisfied and picky, and make a nuisance of myself. The feeling that you're behaving badly but there's nothing you can do about it? Out of control. That's when I need to go to the quiet place. The quiet place is inside, not outside.

You can't run from yourself, and you can't make yourself feel better by going someplace new and pretending that you're new, too, because you aren't. When Jonah tried to run from God he found that he could not, because God was everywhere, even in the belly of a whale, even in the depths of the sea.

You cannot run and you cannot hide from yourself, and there's noplace to go where you won't go, too. So, you might as well just face it, and take a no-time vacation in a place that does not exist. You'll feel so much better when you get back.
